Nelly and Sal have been married for 11 years—and for this milestone, they planned something they had talked about for a long time: a sunrise photoshoot in Laguna Beach, California. This wasn’t just a vacation. It was something they had dreamed of doing, especially in the state where Sal was born. And more than anything, they wanted something real and beautiful to hang up at home. Something that would last.
When we met that morning, the beach was calm and quiet. The sun was just coming up, and it felt like the perfect moment to freeze time—just the two of them, reconnecting, smiling, and being fully present with each other.
The photos we captured weren’t just for social media. They were for the walls in their home, the gallery in their hallway, the frames that their kids will walk by years from now. They wanted to look back 5, 10, even 30 years later and remember exactly how this moment felt. The laughter, the closeness, the pride in how far they’ve come.
As a photographer, these are the kinds of shoots I love most. It’s not about posing or perfection—it’s about telling the truth of people’s stories. It was an honor to be there with Nelly and Sal, to witness that connection, and to help capture what this trip meant to them.
